The site of the Mansfield Motor Speedway was previously an existing track in poor condition that the owner wanted to rebuild from the ground up. With the exception of the original track profile, every aspect of the original facility was demolished to make way for the design. In 2004, Mansfield Motor Speedway hosted a NASCAR truck race. This was the first time NASCAR had raced in Ohio since 1954. Under the direction of Paxton Waters, American Structrepoint is preparing construction documents for a new IHRA drag strip. With the development of this facility, Mansfield will become home to national drag events.
